In its August 2020 edition's Voice Coil magazine focuses once more on the new-generation of our LT Series of FEA optimized Planar Ribbon drivers. Vance Dickason's famous Test Bench characterizations are widely regarded in the audio industry as an accepted benchmark for independent speaker measurements, and he did indeed serve a generous dose of measurements for our LT2 Ribbon Transducer and corresponding waveguide. The full article and measurements are now available online in full!
As Vance Dickason writes for Voice Coil, the LT2 Planar Ribbon "is effectively a smaller version of the LT6 ribbon transducer reviewed in the July 2020 issue of Voice Coil, but offering much more diverse possibilities." Acknowledging Radian Audio's market recognition for its pro sound OEM drivers, and particularly for "great sounding compression and coax drivers," Voice Coil magazine highlights Radian's new-generation waveguide planar transducers for a wide range of applications. "...as the compact LT2 shows, this was designed to be more of a hi-fi or home theater substitute for any high-frequency driver. The LT2, like all of the other new Radian ribbon high-frequency devices, was designed by 35-year loudspeaker engineering veteran Igor Levitsky, who also designed consumer systems for famous brands, including BG Radia speakers and the OPPO PM1 and PM3 planar magnetic headphones," Voice Coil magazine states.
"After reviewing the data, the Radian Audio Engineering LT2, like the LT6 waveguide driver, is as intended — an interesting substitute for a compression driver (0.5" to 0.75") — and given the reputation of ribbon transducers for detail and clarity, a great alternative to consider. Combine that with excellent build quality, this driver would provide a viable new choice for studio monitors, PA speakers, and PA arrays," Dickason concludes.
